New ICS Children’s Program ‘Iglaq’ To Air On APTN North

A new television program produced by Inuvialuit Communications Society (ICS) will air on Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) North this spring - starting May 12 and will be shown every Saturday and Sunday morning.

Iglaq is a 13-episode series focusing on youth and encourages them to learn Inuvialuktun. The program included input from elders and youth from across the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR).

During the show, viewers will learn new words and phrases with animated co-hosts Kalluk and Nuna. They will also spend time with Ms. Donna’s language class, see how traditional items are made, join the Inuvik Drummers and Dancers group, and hear stories from Gerry Kisoun about the Inuvialuit way of life.

ICS said they are "proud to be broadcasting this program on APTN North and looks forward to many more programs coming from the ISR in the years to come." 

The first episode of Iglaq will be shown on Saturday, May 12 at 6:30 a.m. MST. A replay of this episode will be shown on Sunday, May 13 at 7:30 a.m. MST.
