Northern Services

 

Pan Arctic Inuit Logistics Corporation (PAIL) under a joint venture with ATCO Frontec Corp. of Calgary, operates and maintains the Canadian portion of the North Warning System on behalf of the Department of National Defence (DND) through their mutual agent Nasittuq Corporation.

PAIL is 100% owned and controlled by the Inuit in the four Inuit land claims settlement regions of Canada, acting through their respective "heritage organizations". PAIL's seven shareholders are the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC); Nunasi Corporation; Makivik Corporation; the Labrador Inuit Development Corporation (LIDC); Qikiqtaaluk Corporation; Sakku Investments Corporation, and Kitikmeot Corporation.

A major objective, that continues to be pursued by PAIL in relation to its involvement in NWS operations and maintenance activities, is to encourage the employment and training of Inuit in the various jobs that are associated with the NWS, and in this way contribute to the ability of Inuit to participate more fully in the Northern and Canadian workforce and economy in general. In its NWS activities PAIL also encourages business and economic development.

The Stanton Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Inuvialuit Development Corporation.

Stanton Group Ltd. is an Inuvik-based food distribution company. Using the full range of transportation options available in the North-fixed-wing, on- and off-strip aircraft, helicopters, marine vessels, highway, ice road and overland vehicle support - Stanton staff are experienced in supplying top-quality, professional and dependable food services to exploration and development companies across the western Arctic.

With its extensive knowledge of the region's transportation infrastructure, Stanton has specialized in provisioning camps and catering to oil and gas operations in the western Arctic, onshore and offshore, since 1982.

Stanton also services the Inuvik area and surrounding communities through a modern, cash and carry, retail grocery centre along with a retail Store in Tuktoyaktuk and Aklavik.

The goal of Tundra Communications is to deliver top tier telecommunications services to natural resource companies operating in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region, while providing employment and careers for Inuvialuit beneficiaries, all the while ensuring a fair share of the economic benefits from these industries remain in the ISR and in the North.

Transportation

 

Offering both scheduled and charter fixed-wing service across the Western Arctic, Aklak Air excels in providing efficient, secure and safe transportation for people, goods and material on a cost-competitive basis. Aircraft are flown by dual flight crews trained in cockpit management and hold Transport Canada Instrument Flight Ratings. All flights are provided by our custom selected fleet, maintained to the highest Transport Canada standards and safety certified.

Manufacturing and Construction

 

MITS is a joint venture between Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC) and Hallmark Tubulars Ltd. It provides products and services to the oil and gas industry in regards to integrated tubular solutions for OCTG and line pipe. MITS offers a complete range of all products and services, from mill sourcing, inventory management, inspection, threading, returns management, logistics, rental strings, accessories and installation of pipe in the wellbore. This applies to both onshore and offshore drilling projects. MITS offers a unique and unrivalled "single point of contact" solution to all aspects of OCTG and line pipe requirements.

MITS draws on multiple decades of experience and one of the most comprehensive and diverse inventories in the industry and is able to provide its customers with the strategic support required to successfully manage costs and achieve results on remote-location drilling programs.

Weldco Companies is comprised of three business units: Weldco-Beales Manufacturing, Weldco Hydra-Lift and Weldco Heavy Industries. Energy Services

 

Akita Equtak is a 50/50 equity based joint venture partnership between Akita Drilling Ltd. and Inuvialuit Development Corporation providing premium Arctic contract drilling services and crews. Akita Equtak has been in operation since 1983 and has drilled for every operator in the Mackenzie Delta since 2000, providing drilling equipment of a variety of sizes and capacities and even labour crews for offshore drilling projects. Akita Equtak has also operated in Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta and Colorado.

Arctic Oil and Gas Services Ltd is an Inuvialuit company providing catering support services to Oil, Gas and Mining Industries in the Mackenzie Delta and Beaufort Sea Regions. AOGS, one of the largest Aboriginal Employers in the Western Arctic, makes a concentrated effort to employ and train Inuvialuit beneficiaries and other northern residents.
