University and College Entrance Preparation Program

Funding for the University and College Entrance Preparation Program (UCEPP) is provided through Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC). The program provides financial assistance to selected Inuvialuit beneficiaries enrolled in university or college entrance programs, with the goal of increasing the number of students with the academic level required for entrance into a degree or diploma program.

Financial assistance is available for a maximum of one year of studies and will be provided in the form of:

  • Tuition support for part-time and full-time students that may include program fees, tuition and the cost of books and supplies required for courses.
  • Travel support for full-time students who must leave their permanent place of residence to attend their university or college entrance program.
  • Living allowances for full-time students to help cover the costs of food, shelter, local transportation and daycare.

Please note that both UCEPP and INAC maintain authority on which students are selected and approved for funding. Only once participants are determined is Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) provided with a contribution agreement for qualifying students. At this point, IRC then becomes responsible for coordinating the program, including assisting students with all forms and requirements, making and tracking student payments and providing general support to participants.
