My name is Sarah MacNabb. I am an Inuvialuit beneficiary of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement. I was born and raised here in Inuvik and proud to call it my home. I have 2 children and a supportive spouse at home. I attend Aurora College back in 2017 to pursue my education as a Personal Support Worker and have a few months short of 2 years’ experience in that career field. Back in October of 2019, I attended a program called the Dementia Ambassador Training held by the Alberta Alzheimer’s Society and now am a certified dementia ambassador.

I have proudly taken on the position as a Dementia Project Coordinator here at the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation and look forward to connecting with the people of the communities and other organizations to engage and educate. I have a wealth of knowledge about dementia and will always have an open mind to seeking more as life is all about living and learning.

my duties as a DPC

• Coordinate community engagement sessions such as, surveys, data collection and support groups or sharing circles.
• Develop culturally appropriate and Inuvialuit focused dementia educational resources to build capacity for the needs identified by the person living with dementia, their family, caregivers, and community
• Travel to the communities in the ISR (COVID dependent) to research community needs  related to and including prevention, early identification, and end of life care for those living with dementia
• Develop training materials for a person living with or caring for an individual with dementia and their families.
