Canadian North Airlines is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Global Eagle Entertainment Inc., a leading provider of inflight entertainment, media content, technology and connectivity solutions, to introduce wireless in-flight entertainment on select Canadian North scheduled and charter flights, with a trial launch expected to begin in January, 2019.
This innovative system will enable Canadian North passengers to stream a wide-ranging selection of popular movies and television programming on their own mobile devices or laptop computers while onboard Canadian North aircraft. Canadian North’s award-winning inflight magazine, Up Here – the Voice of Canada’s Far North, will also be available for wireless download, along with Tusaayaksat, a publication that showcases culture and lifestyle within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
This exciting new inflight amenity, which utilizes Global Eagle’s portable Airconnect Go system, will initially be available on four Canadian North Boeing 737-300 aircraft, with service to be offered to passengers on the following daily scheduled flights:
- Flights 436 and 437 - Iqaluit ⇄ Ottawa
- Flights 444 and 445 - Edmonton ⇄ Yellowknife ⇄ Norman Wells ⇄ Inuvik
This amenity will also be available on select Canadian North charter flights.
Canadian North will review the passenger usage and performance of this system over a trial period, with the intention of eventually making it available on all sixteen of its Boeing 737 and Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft.
“Throughout Canadian North’s history, we have continually grown and innovated for the benefit of our scheduled service and charter customers, always with warm hospitality and an unyielding commitment to safety,” said Steve Hankirk, President of Canadian North. “The launch of wireless inflight entertainment with accompanying top-notch programming options on Canadian North flights will further enhance our onboard experience. We’re thrilled to introduce this exciting new inflight amenity.”
Canadian North looks forward to this upcoming launch and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
