FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INUVIK, NT, October 15, 2026. Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) is providing an update on the governance process concerning the IRC chair.
In June 2026, IRC commissioned an independent investigation into certain allegations made to IRC and to the chairs of the six community corporations regarding the IRC chair.
IRC and the boards of directors of the community corporations have received a summary investigation report, prepared by the investigator on a confidential basis, making findings concerning the allegations, in accordance with the investigator’s mandate.
Consistent with the process set out in IRC’s bylaws, IRC has received certified resolutions from the boards of at least four of the community corporations, demanding that a vote be held on whether the IRC chair is to be removed from office.
In accordance with the bylaws, IRC has scheduled a meeting and vote on this matter for October 28 and 29, 2026.
IRC is committed to a process that is fair to all parties and that follows the governance framework Inuvialuit have established. Out of respect for that process and for the individuals involved, IRC will not comment further on the investigation or its findings.
IRC’s programs, services and operations continue as normal for Inuvialuit beneficiaries.
IRC will provide an update once the meeting has concluded.
