INUVIK, NT (December 12, 2018) – Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) is pleased with the appointment of Margaret “Dawn” Anderson as the new Senator for the Northwest Territories.
“I am delighted that Dawn Anderson is the new Senator from the Northwest Territories. On behalf of all Inuvialuit, we offer our congratulations! She will do us proud. We will certainly miss her at IRC, but know that she continues working with and for the people throughout the NWT. She will bring traditional values and culture to Ottawa while making our voices heard. We look forward to working with Dawn in her new role,” said Duane Ningaqsig Smith, Chair and CEO of IRC.
Since September 2017, Dawn has worked as a Policy Analyst Intern with the Inuvialuit Self-Government Team in developing self-government policies and program proposals. She is also completing her Master’s Program in Indigenous Governance. Prior to her university studies, she worked in a variety of departments – justice, health and social services with the GNWT.
Dawn is a two-time recipient of the territorial Premier’s Award for Excellence for her leadership and commitment to improving her community.
