March 26, 2025

On Friday, March 21 the Minister of Indigenous Services, Patty Hajdu issued a statement confirming the Government of Canada has renewed Inuit Child First Initiative funding until March 31, 2026. The statement goes on to say, “This will support ongoing service delivery in the interim while Canada and Inuit partners move forward on the co-development of a long-term approach for Inuit children.” Canada has committed an additional $121.7 million for 2025-2026.

Inuit CFI continues to accept new requests for products, services and supports and each request is being considered on a case-by-case basis. The updated application guidelines including what is covered can be found on the Indigenous Services website.
