It is important for the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation to have strong working relationships with the federal and territorial governments, as set out in the IFA.
In a step towards reconciliation, the Inuit-Crown Partnership Committee was created in 2017 with the Inuit Nunangat Declaration on Inuit-Crown Partnership. The ICPC includes the Prime Minister of Canada and select federal ministers, Inuit Tapiriiit Kanatami President, Inuvialuit Regional Corporation Chair and CEO, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. President, Makivvik Corporation President and Nunatsiavut Government President. The Committee also includes the presidents of the National Inuit Youth Council, Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada and the Inuit Circumpolar Council Canada as observers.
The IRC Government Affairs Team currently engages with several GNWT Tables, including the Council of Leaders, Intergovernmental Council and Modern Treaty and Self-Government Partners, all of which come together to discuss shared concerns and common goals amongst their respective governments.
The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation Chair and CEO is also a voting member of the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) Board of Directors, the national voice of Inuit. This includes all 4 Inuit regions of Canada.
The IRC Chair and CEO is also on the board of Inuit Circumpolar Council- Canada, a member of Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC), guided by national- level organizations representing, respectively, the Inuit of Canada, Alaska, Greenland and Chukotka (Russia).
