NOW CLOSED: On the Land Support for Freeze-up
Closed for applications October 11, 2021.
The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) offered on the land support to beneficiary households within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region who will be spending freeze-up staying at their camps.
This is the sixth (6) round of On the Land support (OTL) that IRC has offered to Inuvialuit families spending extended, significant durations of time on the land, over the course of the global COVID pandemic.
“IRC is happy to announce funding support for supplies and fuel at community businesses in order to assist those households planning to be out on the land through the freeze-up in 2021. We know the importance to culture and to wellness that comes with spending extended time harvesting, healing and building family bonds.” said IRC Chair and CEO Duane Ningaqsiq Smith.
Inuvialuit Regional Corporation appreciates the partnership with local retail stores.
- All Households going on the land needed to apply in Fall 2021. Even those households who successfully used OTL support from IRC in past seasons needed to apply again as IRC needs to know what families are able and planning to be out for freeze-up season this year.
- For households approved for OTL, IRC will contact you when vouchers will be available at the grocery store and gas/fuel station identified on your Freeze-up 2021 household application form.
- Applications closed October 11, 2021, at 5pm.
IRC would like to wish all of those travelling on the land a safe season at your camps. Please make sure applicant households provide an emergency contact who is aware of travel plans as part of submitting a complete form to IRC’s On the Land support program.
Look for announcements about future OTL support for households spending their time at camps with family both on IRC Facebook and this website.
