IRC comments on federal election results
The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) would like to congratulate the Liberal party, the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada and MP Michael McLeod on their re-election. IRC continues to work with our federal counterparts on advancing the goals of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement, as signed between Canada and the Inuvialuit.
“IRC is committed to continuing to develop the relationship with Canada,” said Duane Ningaqsiq Smith, Chair and CEO “this bi-lateral relationship is paramount to ensuring the government progresses in its goals of reconciliation.”
IRC is committed to working with this government to make meaningful progress in closing substantial gaps in Infrastructure, health, education, housing, energy security, and food security. The Inuvialuit Final Agreement was created with the understanding that IRC is best suited to close those gaps, and that Canada is bound to work bi-laterally with IRC to accomplish those goals.
Established in 1984 to manage the settlement outlined in the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA), Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) represents the collective interests of Inuvialuit in dealings with governments and the world at large. IRC’s goal is to continually improve the economic, social and cultural well-being of the Inuvialuit through implementation of the IFA and by all other available means.
