Student & Family Support Worker Term to June 28, 2023 (with a possibility of extension) Inuvik, NT

Under the guidance of the Director of IRC’s Health & Wellness Department, the successful candidate will serve as a bridge between the communities and East Three Secondary School to help ensure student successes and address challenges related to attendance. They will also provide direction to career and employment related resources and supports. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists the school and students to enhance total academic achievement, including attendance
  • Works with students, students’ families, and schools to bridge the gap between community and school 
  • Gathers and maintains inventory of resources relating to wellness, career planning, education and employment to provide students and families
  • Assists clients with aftercare and wellness plans
  • Identifies barriers to education, training or employment and advises paths in reducing these barriers (both to the students and to the school)

The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience, and knowledge:

  • Two years of related experience, ideally in the field of education, career development, wellness or client service.
  • Commitment to students and their well being. 
  • Experience working within similar environments considered an asset. 
  • Diploma in social work, education or related field considered an asset. 
  • A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
