Inuvialuit Regional Corporation Remembers Frank Hansen
On behalf of Chair & CEO Duane Smith, the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation Board of Directors, IIC and IDC Boards as well as the IRC staff, we are sad to hear of Frank Hansen’s passing and offer our condolences to Frank’s family, his wife, siblings and children.
Born in Aklavik in 1944, Frank demonstrated a keen sense for business and pursued that early on in his career. Frank graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering eventually managing the tank farm under his company HPPL.
He served in many capacities throughout the Inuvialuit Corporate Group as well as at the community level. Some of the more notable ones were as Chair of Inuvialuit Investment Corporation (IIC) for 20 years from at least 1995 -2015, on the Board of Directors of IRC as ICC Chair and throughout re-appointments of 7 years as Chair of the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC).
Frank was also a role model and mentor, having contributed back to his region which continued throughout his life.
He also had a passion for music and was instrumental in creating a program to the region to promote fiddling within the region.
On behalf of all Inuvialuit and residents throughout the region the IRC wants to express our sincere gratitude to Frank’s contributions to the wellbeing of the Inuvialuit a community as a whole.
