Call for Applications Inuvialuit Member Arbitration Board
The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) is seeking applications for a Member of the Arbitration Board (Arbitration Board).
The Member will participate in any Arbitration Board proceedings as a Member representing Inuvialuit interests. The Arbitration Board is responsible for carrying out the functions under Section 18 of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA). This includes: the formation of a panel if a dispute arises; arbitration of disputes relating to the interpretation, application, and implementation of the IFA; enrolment disputes; municipal needs; requirement for roads; land selection; conflicting subsurface resource claims; sand and gravel disputes; expropriation of Inuvialuit Lands; terms and conditions of Participation Agreements; and Wildlife Compensation Awards.
The Arbitration Board has eleven (11) Members. Three (3) Members are appointed by the IRC Board of Directors. IRC is currently seeking applications to fill one (1) vacancy on the Arbitration Board.
Any Member of the Arbitration Board should have a thorough understanding of the IFA and awareness of the economic and social conditions in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR).
Arbitration Board Members hold this appointment at the recommendation of the IRC Board of Directors for a term of three (3) years. There may be no meetings held during your term – meetings are dependent on the presence of disputes as it pertains to the IFA. There will be an onboarding component offered to all members.
