Inuit Child First Initiative for Wildfire Evacuees

September 5, 2023

The Inuit Child First Initiative ensures all Inuit children have access to the essential government funded health, social and educational products, services and supports they need, when they need them. The Inuit Child First Initiative is designed to meet the unmet needs of children under the age of 19 in the NWT.

In response to the wildfire evacuation orders across the Northwest Territories and with the acknowledgment that families with children are in need of short-term support, Inuvialuit Beneficiary households with children 18 years old and under that have been affected by the wildfire evacuation orders in the NWT will receive a one-time payment funding through the Inuit Child First Initiative.

Please fill out the application and email it to inuitcfi@inuvaluit.com.

During this time, Staff are working tirelessly to help the wildfire Evacuees, and we ask that Beneficiaries exercise patience when trying to reach our office, as phone lines at IRC have been disrupted due to the wildfires.

We also ask that Beneficiaries only email once, you will receive a confirmation email after your application has been received, and you will receive a second confirmation email from staff when your request has been submitted for payment.
