IRC is looking for an Inuvialuk Youth leader

Are you an Inuvialuk youth under 30? Interested in community & regional representation and offering the Inuvialuit perspective as a young person?

Inuvialuit Regional Corporation is looking for an Inuvialuk Youth to chair the Regional Youth Advisory Group and sit on the National Inuit Youth Council as the Inuvialuit appointee.

The representative will lead the Inuvialuit Regional Youth Advisory Group (RYAG), provide annual reports to the IRC Board of Directors, establish communication and dialogue with key IRC staff that relate to youth issues, provide insight and recommendations on youth initiatives to the respective IRC staff and committees to discuss, promote positive youth perspectives on life skills, participate in the development of proposals to funding sources that promote healthy young pursuits, develop ideas and activities that focus on different age groups, promote the importance of respect of elders and parents and promote youth volunteer programs and fundraising initiatives. The RYAG holds two face to face or videoconference meetings per year. Additional meeting will be arranged, as required.  Some travel is necessary.

Representing Inuvialuit with the National Inuit Youth Council (NIYC); NIYC provides guidance and recommendations to Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) Board of Directors on topics related to Inuit youth and ensures their respective Inuit organizations and ITK are up-to-date and in position to make well-informed decisions on behalf of Inuit youth. NIYC holds (2) two face to face or videoconference meetings per year. Additional meetings will be arranged, as required. Some travel is necessary. NIYC is collectively accountable to the ITK Board and each member is accountable to their respective Inuit organization. Regional representatives report to their respective organizations of the deliberations of NIYC and obtain input on specific topics as required. This representative appointment is a two (2) year term appointment. This is not a salaried position; the regional representative is compensated with honoraria. All costs associated with representation including honoraria, travel and per diem are covered by either ITK or IRC. An NIYC and RYAG Terms of Reference is available.
