Inuvialuit Regional Corporation is seeking applications for a Member of Arbitration Board.
This position will participate in the Arbitration Board proceedings as a Member. The Arbitration Board is responsible for carrying out the functions under Section 18 of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement including; formation of a panel if a dispute arises; arbitration of disputes relating to interpretation, application and implementation of the IFA; enrolment disputes; municipal needs; requirement for roads; land selection; conflicting subsurface resource claims; sand and gravel disputes; expropriation of Inuvialuit Lands; terms and conditions of Participation Agreements and wildlife compensation awards.
The Arbitration Board has eleven (11) Members; including a Chair and Vice-Chair. Three (3) members are appointed by the IRC Board of Directors.
As a Member of the Arbitration Committee carrying out its mandate, the Member should have a good understanding of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement and awareness of the economic & social conditions in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
The Arbitration Board Member holds this appointment at the pleasure of the IRC Board for a term of three (3) years. Due to the nature of the issues with which the Board deals with, there may be no meetings held during your term of appointment. The role of the Arbitration Board member is outlined in the Inuvialuit Final Agreement, Section 18.0.
